visionOS 2.4 and iOS 18.4 are fixing some notable problems people have had with sharing or simply using the Vision Pro.
One of the biggest hurdles with VR headsets has always been their isolating nature — whatever you want to do, you have to do it inside the headset. Apple is tackling this challenge head-on with the upcoming visionOS 2.4 update, which promises to make sharing the Vision Pro much smoother and introduces two new apps to enhance your experience, whether you’re immersed in the headset or browsing from your iPhone.
A More Seamless Guest Experience
Sharing your Vision Pro with friends or family has been cumbersome. You had to put the headset on yourself first, go through a setup process, and only then could someone else use it. With visionOS 2.4, Apple is streamlining this process, significantly reducing friction and making the device more accessible to guests.

Now, when a guest wants to try out the Vision Pro, they can simply put it on — and you, as the owner, will receive a prompt on your iPhone or iPad to approve guest mode. No need to wear the headset yourself first. You’ll have control over which apps your guest can access, and you can even decide whether or not to enable AirPlay, mirroring what the guest sees on another screen, just like in Apple’s in-store demos.

This change makes it much easier for someone in your household to use the Vision Pro regularly without jumping through hoops every time. However, Apple still maintains the 30-day reset limit for guest profiles, meaning occasional users will still need to complete hand-and-eye setup if they haven’t used the headset in a month. While this isn’t a perfect solution, it’s a significant step forward compared to the previous experience.
A New iPhone App for Managing Vision Pro
Another major improvement comes with iOS 18.4, which introduces a dedicated Apple Vision Pro app for iPhones. Until now, finding apps for the Vision Pro required wearing the headset and searching the App Store from inside the device. But with the new iPhone app, you can browse the visionOS App Store, install apps remotely, and even queue up videos to watch later — all from your phone.
This makes discovering new content and managing your Vision Pro library far more convenient. No more hunting through third-party recommendations or scrolling through Apple’s website to see what’s available. The app will even show your headset’s key information, like the serial number, and allow users with ZEISS Optical Inserts to store and view their App Clip codes for prescription lenses.
You don’t have to do anything to get the app either — it will automatically download to your iPhone with iOS 18.4. If you don’t own a Vision Pro but are curious, you can still download the app separately from the App Store to explore what the platform offers.
Discover the Best of Vision Pro with Spatial Gallery
Apple is also introducing Spatial Gallery, a brand-new Vision Pro app curated to showcase the headset’s immersive capabilities. The app will feature a handpicked collection of spatial photos, videos, and panoramas, giving users a taste of what makes the Vision Pro experience so special. Expect behind-the-scenes clips from hit Apple TV+ shows like Severance and Shrinking, along with other content designed to highlight the headset’s stunning visual capabilities.
By providing an easy way to explore high-quality, immersive content, Apple is helping Vision Pro owners get the most out of their device while showing potential buyers exactly what makes the platform unique.
When Can You Get These Updates?
The visionOS 2.4 update is rolling out in beta to developers starting today, with a public release expected in April. The iPhone app will come bundled with iOS 18.4, so you’ll get it automatically once your phone updates.
With these updates, Apple is making the Vision Pro not only more shareable but also more connected to your iPhone, bridging the gap between the physical and virtual worlds. Whether you’re handing the headset to a friend or browsing new apps from your couch, the Vision Pro experience is about to get a whole lot better.
If you’ve been on the fence about trying the Vision Pro, or if you already own one but found sharing and managing it a hassle, these improvements could be a game changer. Apple seems determined to refine the Vision Pro experience — and this update is a clear step in the right direction.
