The Brainchild of an Experienced Developer

Axel Le Pennec, who has been creating iOS apps since 2013, conceived the idea for Wayther while enhancing his digital boating logbook app, Skipper. “I wanted to add a feature that allowed users to plan future trips and check the weather along the route,” Le Pennec explained. “I realized this feature could be beneficial for a broader audience, such as truckers and travelers.”

Features Designed for Every Traveler

Wayther allows you to choose different routes and adjust departure or arrival times to find the best travel window. This eliminates the need to input multiple locations into a weather app when planning your trip. Key features include:

  • Severe Weather Alerts: Identify hazardous weather conditions.
  • Visibility and Night Driving Conditions: Plan for safe driving at night.
  • Scenic Times: Schedule your trip during beautiful sunrises or sunsets.

Enter your starting point and destination, and Wayther provides three route options with detailed weather forecasts at various points along the way. The interactive map offers a trip overview and a detailed timeline.

Global Usability and Versatility

Wayther is available in all countries where Apple Weather is supported and offers both metric and imperial units. The app is not just for car trips; it also caters to motorcycles, RVs, trucks, buses, and bikes.

Future Enhancements and Expansions

This is just the beginning for Wayther. Le Pennec plans to add numerous features, including:

  • Adding Stops: Customize your trip with planned stops.
  • Route History: Review past trips.
  • Saved Favorites: Quickly access frequently traveled routes.
  • Live Updates: Get real-time information while driving.

Le Pennec is also awaiting authorization from Apple to build a CarPlay app and aims to enhance OS integration with widgets, Live Activity, and Siri shortcuts. Additionally, he plans to expand language support, starting with French, German, Spanish, and Italian.

Subscription Plans

Wayther offers a free trial with three complimentary trips. Post-trial, you can choose from several subscription options:

  • $1.99 weekly
  • $2.99 monthly
  • $14.99 yearly

Wayther is poised to revolutionize the way you plan and experience your road trips. Download it today and take the stress out of your travel planning!
