A $200 Pro subscription is no longer required to use the tool.

OpenAI is making waves once again with an exciting update for ChatGPT users. Earlier this month, the company announced its groundbreaking Deep Research tool, promising Plus users access within a month — and now, they’re delivering on that promise. As of today, the powerful feature is rolling out to Plus, Team, Edu, and Enterprise subscribers, bringing advanced research capabilities to a much wider audience.

What is Deep Research?Expanded Access and New LimitsKey Improvements to Deep ResearchThe Future of Deep Research

Previously, accessing Deep Research required a hefty $200 per month Pro subscription. But now, OpenAI is democratizing access to this tool, giving more users the ability to generate detailed, well-researched reports on almost any subject. Whether you’re a student working on an academic paper, a content creator crafting high-value articles, or a business professional seeking data-driven insights, Deep Research can become your secret weapon for generating comprehensive content.

What is Deep Research?

Deep Research is an advanced feature within ChatGPT that allows users to generate long-form, in-depth reports on complex topics. It goes beyond the standard ChatGPT interaction by diving deep into data, summarizing extensive information, and even analyzing uploaded files. This makes it an invaluable tool for conducting market research, synthesizing academic literature, or exploring niche subject areas that would otherwise take hours of manual research.

To use Deep Research, simply type your prompt as usual, but tap the Deep Research icon before submitting your request. Depending on the complexity of your question, it might take anywhere from five to thirty minutes to receive a response — but the depth and quality of the results are well worth the wait.

Expanded Access and New Limits

To make the feature more accessible, OpenAI is giving Plus users 10 Deep Research queries per month as part of their plan. Meanwhile, Pro users will see their monthly limit increased from 100 to 120 queries. This expansion allows more people to experiment with the tool and incorporate it into their workflows without needing to commit to the higher Pro-tier pricing.

Key Improvements to Deep Research

In addition to expanding access, OpenAI has enhanced the tool itself to provide an even better experience:

  • Embedded Images with Citations: ChatGPT now includes relevant images alongside citations to offer richer insights and visual context for your research.
  • Smarter File Analysis: The system now better understands different file types, leading to more accurate document analysis and interpretation.

These updates make Deep Research more versatile, empowering users to tackle complex projects that involve a mix of textual and visual data.

The Future of Deep Research

For now, Deep Research remains exclusive to paid plans due to its compute-intensive nature. OpenAI has stated that it may take some time before Free-tier users can try out the feature, as they work on optimizing performance and scaling the infrastructure. However, this gradual rollout ensures a smoother experience for paying users while allowing OpenAI to refine the tool.

If you haven’t tried Deep Research yet, now is the perfect time to explore what it can do. Whether you need to compile detailed reports, gain nuanced insights, or synthesize large amounts of information quickly, this feature can be a game-changer. Just activate Deep Research, submit your query, and let ChatGPT handle the heavy lifting.

OpenAI’s move to expand access to Deep Research marks an important step in making AI-powered knowledge more accessible and useful for people across various industries. As the tool evolves, it has the potential to revolutionize how we approach research, learning, and content creation — one deep dive at a time.

So, why not give it a try? The future of research is here, and it’s just a click away.
