Sony is gearing up for the release of a new Mario-like adventure game for the PS5, featuring its charming mascot, Astro Bot. Set to launch on September 6, this title promises to be an absolute blast. Following Nintendo’s playbook, Sony has also unveiled a themed DualSense controller to celebrate the game’s release, and it is simply delightful.

Introducing the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller

The Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller pays homage to the endearing bucket of bolts, who first appeared in a collection of VR minigames back in 2013. Sony has labeled the controller as a “true work of art,” and it’s easy to see why. This controller is undeniably gorgeous, featuring a pair of robotic eyes on the touchpad and Astro Bot’s signature blue accents adorning the handles and buttons.

Enhancing the Gaming Experience with DualSense Features

Sony has also detailed how the upcoming 3D platformer will fully utilize the DualSense controller’s advanced features. The developers have increased the variety of textures that players can feel through haptic feedback, providing a more immersive experience. The adaptive trigger response has been finely tuned to complement the protagonist’s new abilities. For example, Sony describes the sensation of “feeling the thruster rattling” when using a jetpack, offering a tactile dimension to the gameplay.

Every new power-up in the game has received this special treatment. One notable addition is the Dual Speeder gadget, which transforms the controller into a motion-controlled spaceship. These innovative features are available on all DualSense gamepads, not just the Astro Bot-themed version.

A Perfect Pairing: Controller and Game Launch

The Astro Bot-themed controller is priced at $80 and will be available on the same day as the game, September 6. We had the opportunity to play a demo of Astro Bot back in June and were thoroughly impressed. We noted that it “feels fantastic” and is “infused with childlike joy.” Mario might want to watch his back!

Sony’s dedication to creating an immersive and delightful gaming experience is evident in both the new game and the beautifully designed controller. The Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller is a must-have for fans and collectors alike, combining functionality with a charming aesthetic.

Prepare yourself for an adventure filled with joy and wonder as Astro Bot takes center stage on September 6.
