Industries across the globe—from healthcare and banking to air travel—are grappling with a massive IT outage affecting Microsoft Windows PCs and servers connected to the CrowdStrike security platform. Early Friday morning, users started experiencing Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors. The resolution process could be lengthy, as it often requires booting into Safe Mode. However, Microsoft has now suggested that rebooting affected systems up to 15 times might restore functionality.

CrowdStrike, a leading US-based cybersecurity firm, identified a faulty update as the cause, dismissing concerns of a security breach or cyberattack. CEO George Kurtz clarified this in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. The glitch has disrupted operations for banks, airlines, TV broadcasters, supermarkets, and even Starbucks.

The impact has been significant, with thousands of flights delayed or canceled and businesses slowly beginning to recover. Kurtz mentioned in an interview with NBC News that full recovery could take some time.
