There will only be 1,000 units of the Nothing Phone 2A Plus Community Edition.

Nothing has revealed its boldest device yet: the Phone 2A Plus Community Edition, a customized, glow-in-the-dark smartphone with design contributions from some of the brand’s most dedicated fans. With a sleek phosphorescent finish and uniquely reimagined packaging, this limited-edition release showcases Nothing’s commitment to blurring the line between product and community, offering customers a chance to co-create the devices they love.

The Phone 2A Plus Community Edition is the first major venture from Nothing to involve its community in co-creating hardware, a project that attracted over 900 design submissions from fans across the globe. These designs spanned everything from aesthetics to marketing, proving that Nothing’s followers are more than just users – they’re collaborators. This exclusive edition, retailing at $399, will be available for purchase through Nothing’s website on November 12, with only 1,000 units in existence.

Glow-in-the-Dark Design for Style and Visibility

Conceived by winners Astrid Vanhuyse and Kenta Akasaki and brought to life by Nothing’s own Adam Bates and Lucy Birley, the Phone 2A Plus Community Edition boasts a remarkable new design feature: glow-in-the-dark accents. The phone’s back is tinted with a green phosphorescent material that emits a soft glow for hours, powered by daylight alone. This aesthetic twist is enhanced by three light strips circling its rear cameras, adding both function and flair.

Not only has Nothing revamped the device itself, but they’ve also reimagined the packaging. Designer Ian Henry Simmonds infused the box with reflective elements and a dramatic macro close-up of the phone, bringing the glow-in-the-dark theme full circle.

A Seamless Digital Experience with Exclusive Wallpapers

Nothing took the design transformation a step further with a set of exclusive wallpapers known as the “Connected Collection.” These six original designs were created using a fusion of digital tools and AI, courtesy of designer Andrés Mateos and Nothing’s software team. Each wallpaper complements the aesthetic of the Phone 2A Plus Community Edition, offering users a visually cohesive experience that extends from the physical device to its digital interface.

Marketing with a Vision: “Find Your Light. Capture Your Light.”

To complement this one-of-a-kind release, Nothing tapped designer Sonya Palma to lead the Phone 2A Plus Community Edition’s campaign, aptly named “Find Your Light. Capture Your Light.” This tagline not only nods to the phone’s glow-in-the-dark feature but also encourages users to embrace their unique style and creativity – core values of the Nothing community.

Nothing’s Commitment to Co-Creation

This isn’t the company’s first foray into community engagement. In a previous project, CMF by Nothing, the brand’s affordability-focused line, partnered with Bambu Lab to encourage fans to design 3D-printed accessories for the CMF Phone 1. However, the Phone 2A Plus Community Edition takes it to a new level by bringing fans into the hardware development process, showcasing Nothing’s dedication to fostering innovation with and for its community.

Get Your Glow – While You Can

Nothing’s Phone 2A Plus Community Edition is truly a piece of tech art, designed by fans, for fans. The limited run of 1,000 units is expected to sell out quickly, so those interested should mark their calendars for November 12. Priced at $399, the device can be purchased exclusively through Nothing’s website.

By empowering its fans to contribute to the creative process, Nothing is pioneering a unique model for tech innovation. The Phone 2A Plus Community Edition isn’t just a smartphone; it’s a symbol of community-driven design and a tangible example of Nothing’s visionary approach to tech.
